Odd Haugen: We hope to have broad international participation in Vegas

12.08.2020
Vice-President of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation, member of the Main panel of the IMWF referees, World Mas-Wrestling Ambassador Odd Haugen took part in a videoconference yesterday.

In his speech, he specifically said:

“Dear Mr. Aleksandr Akimov President, Arnold Mokhov General Secretary and fellow Presidium Members.

These are extraordinary times! Many of our tournaments and events have been cancelled or postponed, but we will all persevere!

I want to first give special thanks to Lena Tomskaya for her tireless efforts and tireless communication support for the progress and betterment of mas-wrestling world-wide.

This marks the 7th year of MAS Wrestling USA’s participation in mas-wrestling. In those seven years we have participated in numerous World Cups and World Championships, and we have hosted two Absolute World Championships.

Our biggest accomplishment to date, Martins Licis victory in the 2016 Absolute World Championship!

In 2020 we were lucky enough to hold the All-American MAS Wrestling Championship in Los Angeles and Arnold Classic International Championship with 32 international athletes in Columbus Ohio just ahead of the COVID-19 breakout and the subsequent shutdown.

We have been invited to and will host an International Tournament at the Mr. Olympia Sports Festival December 17-20, 2020.

We are offering 2 weight categories for women and 3 weight categories for men.

Top three athletes (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) in each weight category are awarded with medals and Champion in each weight category receives Championship Belt.

The tournament is open to athletes of all IMWF member nations and we hope to have broad international participation. We would like to request prize money support from the International Federation (IMWF).

We think this is a good way of ending a dismal 2020 and kicking off a GREAT 2021!”
