Congratulations on Vladimir Sharin anniversary!

16.04.2021
Today the 60th anniversary is celebrated by a man whom all the world’s mas-wrestlers should know about. His name is Vladimir Yakovlevich Sharin.

Vladimir Sharin is one of the founders of a new kind of sport, which is now gaining its rapid development in many countries of the world under the modern name "Mas-Wrestling".

In his main field of physics, he studied nuclear geophysics. But his lifelong work was a sport that he himself created, reviving the national competition, together with his friends while still a student at Yakutsk State University.

On December 1, 1979, in the lobby of the dormitory №12 in the “Sergelekh” campus, they held the first tug-of-stick matches with their friend Nikolai Sofronov. He remembered this date well, because from that day his life changed. The new sports hobby captured him entirely and went through his whole life.

At that time, was started the beginning of the «Golden Stick» championship, later it became traditional and very prestigious. Vladimir was an indispensable member of it. And the main achievement of this time considers his victory in this championship in 1984.

Working in the Verkhoyansk region, he engaged in extreme tourism and became a master of sports.

Vladimir Sharin is the master of sports of Yakutia in Mas-Tardyhyy (1997), multiple champion of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the first heavyweight champion of Russia in 2005 in Moscow.

Vladimir Sharin is one of the founders of the Mas-Tardyhyy Federation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the All-Russian Mas-Wrestling Federation.

Standing at the origins of the development of mas-wrestling, he was directly involved in the development of the rules of mas-wrestling and was one of the authors of the name of the new sport.

Until 2013, he was a member of the Presidium of the Republican Federation.

He has worked as chief referee and deputy chief referee for over a dozen international competitions.

Currently he is a member of the Council of Mas-Wrestlers Veterans in the republic.

Vladimir Sharin is a happy family man. He is married, has three children and five grandchildren.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Republican Federation, as well as the 10th anniversary of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation. The contribution of Vladimir Sharin in the common cause is priceless. Thanks to his personal enthusiasm and passionarity of his associates around the world, people are engaged in Yakut Mas-Wrestling.

We wish Vladimir a long life in health and well-being. We hope that the invaluable experience of the senior companion will be passed on to the younger generation.
