Erdenvanchig Batbaatar, Mongolia: "Ensuring the safety and comfort of foreign delegations will be our highest priority"

19.06.2025
At the IMWF Presidium meeting held on June 17, Erdenvaanchig Batbaatar announced: "We are honored to affirm that all activities related to receiving and serving you and your accompanying delegation will be meticulously organized in accordance with the official standards of the State Protocol of Mongolia. Ensuring your security and comfort throughout your visit will be our highest priority."

Arrival in Mongolia.

The arriving sports delegations at Chinggis Khan International Airport (UBN) will be met by a group of volunteers. Overall, 100 volunteers will serve at the World Mas-wrestling Championship. Each sports team will be assigned a dedicated volunteer.

The national teams of Russia, China, and Kyrgyzstan, which are arriving with the largest groups, will go to Arkhangai immediately upon arrival. Small groups of athletes will go to the tourist camp "Mongol Nomadic." At the camp, they will be able to rest after the flight in warm yurts, have a snack at the restaurant, and wait for the arrival of the other delegations to form groups for boarding large buses for further travel to Arkhangai.

Be prepared for a fairly long journey. Throughout the trip, a professional guide-translator will engagingly introduce you to the history, culture, and geography of Mongolia. There will be a stop for a meal approximately halfway through the journey.

Attention! Meals during the trip are at the expense of the travelers themselves. The approximate cost of a portion for an adult is fr om 5 to 10 dollars. Cash should be exchanged at the airport, as there will be no such opportunity along the way.

The national currency of Mongolia is the tögrög (MNT or ₮). As of June 7 of this year, one US dollar is approximately 3,450 tögrögs. The most suitable foreign currencies for exchange are the US dollar (USD), euro (EUR), and Japanese yen (JPY). If you are bringing US dollars, please ensure that the banknotes were issued after 1996 (with a larger portrait of the president, not a small one). Although most cards (Credit/Mastercard/Visa) are accepted in Ulaanbaatar, we strongly recommend having a small amount of cash in the local currency with you.

ARA complex.

The final point of the journey is the ARA complex. At the entrance, you will be greeted by a welcoming group dressed in traditional Mongolian attire with a silver bowl of milk, aaruul (dried cottage cheese), and a khadag (ceremonial blue scarf), thus expressing the deep respect of the Mongolian people. In honor of the arrival of your national team, your country's flag will be raised.

All participants will be accommodated in a yurt camp located 300 meters from the event site. The territory is fenced and will be guarded around the clock. Access to this zone will only be for residents. Currently, 65 yurts have already been installed, but closer to the date, their number is promised to be increased to 100. Accommodation will be for 3-4 people per yurt on the principle: men and women separately. Toilet cabins and showers are located a little away from the residential yurts. For your convenience and to comply with sanitary and hygienic standards, water supply is available in the toilets. A sauna will also be installed. To make it clearer – it looks like a kind of camping in a Mongolian style. The meals will be three times a day indoors, in a space resembling a large hangar. The hosts promise a good nutritious menu taking into account the national characteristics of the arrivals.

Last weekend, the director of the tourist complex N. Ulziibayar and the head of the sports committee of Arkhangai Province R. Batbold conducted a tour of the territory for Lena Tomskaya, Vice President of the International Mas-wrestling Federation, and the leadership of the Mongolian Mas-wrestling Federation Munkhsuren Erdenebaatar and Erdenvaanchig Batbaatar. We can confirm that preparatory work is actively underway. Solar panels have been installed around the entire perimeter to save electricity, which indicates a careful attitude towards ecology and a businesslike approach to organizing a large-scale event.

For those who wish to stay in familiar, more comfortable conditions, there are several hotels of various levels approximately 5-6 km away; information is attached. We recommend choosing and booking hotels in advance, as they fill up more each day. There is also the possibility to stay at other nearby tourist bases. Note: meals outside the ARA complex are not provided, so you will need to pay for your own food.

Cultural program.

The host side promises a rich cultural program. During the opening and closing ceremonies at the stadium with stands accommodating up to eight thousand spectators, 160 artists will be involved, including local and international stars. The first day of the competition on August 1 will end with a theatrical performance on a historical theme featuring numerous riders. The second day will conclude with a banquet for all participants and a nighttime show with fireworks.

There will be many other entertainment programs for guests and spectators of the mas-rolfing competition. Various activities are organized around the entire perimeter of the "ARA" complex. Notably, horse racing at the nearby hippodrome, which surrounds the stadium and is 2 km 400 meters away, can be highlighted. For the convenience of spectators, a large plasma screen is installed at the start and finish points, wh ere the entire racecourse will be visible. A large structure for downhill roller skating is being built, with a cable car to be connected to it. To see notable places in other regions of the country, you can do so at your own expense. You will receive detailed information about all excursions at the accommodation.

During cultural events, it is planned to install serge - a traditional Yakut harness. The author of the work will be our great friend Alexander Pavlov. He previously installed serge madjyny in Yakutsk during the World Championship, in Norway at an international tournament, as well as in Serbia and Slovakia as part of the European Championships.

Weather in Arkhangai Province: late July and early August. What to wear.

In this Arkhangai aimag, the weather at the end of July and the beginning of August is usually very pleasant and mild, making it an ideal time for travel. During the day, it is not too hot, and at night, it is not too cold. Daytime temperatures typically range from +18°C to +25°C, while nights can cool down to +5°C - +15°C. Therefore, it is necessary to bring warm clothing, especially windproof items. In late July and early August, there is a possibility of rain, so waterproof clothing is also important. Due to the relatively high altitude above sea level in Mongolia, you may experience all four seasons.

Electrical outlets in Mongolia.

There will be electricity in yurts. The voltage in Mongolia's electrical network is 220V. Mainly, outlets with two round contacts (thick or sometimes thin) are used. Since Mongolia does not have a unified standard, you may encounter different types of outlets, so it is strongly recommended to bring a universal adapter.
