Production of first mas-wrestling feature film starting in Yakutsk

On November 15, the city of Yakutsk will witness the start of shooting the first film about the traditional Yakut sport "Juluur: Mas-wrestling." This is the first Yakut feature film to receive the federal funding.

The script of the film about the hero-athlete Juluur was recognized as the best in the framework of the Second Pitching of the Yakutsk film projects, and the Youth Initiatives Production Center chose it for implementation. Later, within the framework of the competition of independent films, the mas-wrestling project also received high marks from experts and was among the 15 best film projects in this category, having received the federal funding.

It is important to note that the project “Djuluur: Mas-Wrestling” is not only the first film in the genre of sports drama for the Yakut Cinema, but is also the first Yakut film project supported by the federal Ministry of Culture.

The film will bring together the leading artists of the Yakut theater and cinema. The main characters will be played be Vladimir Mikhalev and Gavril Menkyarov. Also the project will be joined by a famous Russian theater and film actor Vladimir Epifantsev (“Antikiller”, “Fierce”, “Sparta”, “8 best dates”, “Indestructible”).

The director of the film is Valentin Makarov ("Kerel. Invisible Beauty").

General producer is Filipp Abryutin, line producer - Oksana Lakhno, executive producer - Innokenty Lukovtsev.

The film is produced by the Youth Initiatives Producer Center in cooperation with the AyarAat creative group, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), the Ministry of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), and the International Mas-Wrestling Federation.

For your information, mas-wrestling is a special pride of Yakutia. The World Mas-Wrestling Championship will take place in Yakutsk on November 24-25. Athletes from more than 40 countries are taking part in this event.
