Mongolian sports delegation visited Yakutsk to work on preparing for the World Mas-Wrestling Championship
On May 15, upon arrival at the Platon Oyunskiy Yakutsk Airport, the high-ranking delegation from Mongolia and the leading mas-wrestlers of the country were greeted by the Honored Coach of the Russian Federation in mas-wrestling Alexey Agapov and the 1st Vice-President of the Mas-wrestling Federation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Igor Borisov. This day, they escorted the guests to the crossing over the Lena river for further travel to Amga to meet the legendary madjyny Anatoly Baishev. On that day, the ice drift had just begun, but despite this circumstance, the Mongolian delegation did not change their plans and continued on their intended route. The next day, the seniors returned to Yakutsk for work.
On May 16, the head of the delegation, director of the Center for Sports Training and Scientific Medicine of the Mongolian national teams, Honorary president of the Mongolian Mas-wrestling Federation Erdenevaanchig Batbaatar presented personal invitations to Gavril Kirillin - Minister of External Relations and Indigenous Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Leonid Spiridonov - Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as honorary guests to the VII World Mas-wrestling Championship, which will be held in Arkhangai in early August.
On May 19, meetings were held with the Vice-presidents of the International Mas-wrestling Federation: Gennady Vasilyev - Director of the Republican Center for National Sports named after Vasily Manchaary, Mikhail Gulyaev - President of the All-Russian Mas-wrestling Federation, and Lena Tomskaya, responsible for the strategy of mas-wrestling development worldwide. All were also presented with personalized invitations to the championship.
In the evening, a reception was held for the Mongolian colleagues by the Deputy Chairman of the Government Sergey Mestnikov at the State Assembly of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – Il Tumen. Erdenevaanchig Batbaatar informed Sergey Vasilyevich in pure Yakut language in detail about the promotion of Yakut mas-wrestling in Mongolia.
"We have launched extensive work to cover the population in all aimags. Today, mas-wrestling is practiced by schoolchildren, students, employees of law enforcement agencies and public security. By decision of the Government of Mongolia, mas-wrestling has been included in the program of Children's Sports Games and the national Spartakiad.
The Mas-wrestling Federation of Mongolia is thoroughly preparing for the World Championship. We are working to attract participants from more than 40 countries. All expenses for accommodation and meals of the participants are covered by the host side. A live broadcast of the championship is planned on the main sports TV channels of the country - MNB sport, Bolovsrol suwag. Negotiations have begun with the Russian channel "Match-TV." The design of the award product has already been developed. The competitions will be held under the patronage of the President of Mongolia in Arkhangai aimag — a world-famous tourist region with a rich history.
Promising members of the national mas-wrestling team have arrived in Yakutia for joint two-week training camps in Amga with the renowned athlete and coach Anatoly Baishev. At the end of the training, they are expected to participate in a mas-wrestling tournament for the prizes of the absolute champions of the Amga ulus. We have high hopes for these practical mas-wrestling sessions immersed in Yakut reality.
We eagerly await the Head of Yakutia, Aisen Sergeevich, and invite all residents of the republic to come to Mongolia for the VII World Mas-wrestling Championship," concluded Batbaatar.
Sergey Vasilievich listened attentively and expressed his opinion: "Your active work in developing the Yakut sport deserves the highest praise. I would especially like to note that you chose the most correct tactic when you decided to bring your athletes to training camps in Yakutia – the homeland of the sport. We all saw the natural fruits of your efforts at last year's World Championship in Kyrgyzstan, when your athlete Uyanga Narantogtokh rose to the highest step of the podium and wore the gold medal of the world championship. I am confident that this time your athletes will also benefit from training in Yakutia.
On our part, I express great interest in the upcoming World Championship in your unique country. We will provide support in presenting the culture of the Sakha people at the opening ceremony and, considering the tourist orientation of the chosen region, intend to reveal the tourism potential of Yakutia for local residents and guests of the sports festival. For Yakutians who will not be able to travel to Mongolia, a live broadcast will be organized.
At the end of the meeting, the Mongolian side presented Sergey Mestnikov with a commemorative souvenir – a statuette of a Mongolian horseman holding a mas-wrestling stick raised in his hand as a sign of friendship and good neighborly relations between our peoples.
Advisors of the Mongolian Mas-wrestling Federation Sangisuren Bekhtulga and Enkhjargal Khuderhuu, participated in all the meetings.
