About amendments in the IMWF Calendar

The upcoming event in our Calendar is the 2025 North American Open Mas-Wrestling Championship, which will be held in Calgary on July 12. Preparations are progressing quite successfully, and local organizers are taking this process very responsibly. Despite the fact that this North American continent remains difficult to access due to the complex visa issuance process, several athletes fr om other continents will participate. We are confident that this event will be conducted honorably.

It has become known that the North American Mas-wrestling Championship in the absolute category, scheduled for May in Fort Wayne, has been canceled. If Canadian colleagues express interest, it can be held in Calgary with the approval of curator Odd Haugen.

In July, the International Mas-wrestling Tournament in Norway was planned, but it will not be able to take place this year. This was announced by the chief organizer, Mr. Odd Haugen. So, we can remove it from the list of planned events.

The traditional International mas-wrestling tournament will be held on September 3-7 as part of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. This year, we have a change of main sponsor. It is the Joint Stock Company "Yakutia Railways" led by Vasily Shimokhin. Preparatory work has begun, and the format of the competition has been set as team-based. In addition to mas-wrestling, participants will discover Yakutian traditional board games "habylyk" and "haamyska". This is our new addition. There will be many more interesting things. You will learn about the invited athletes from different countries as they are confirmed.

The only event in mas-wrestling under the patronage of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation in South America was supposed to take place in September - the Pan-American Open Ьфы-Mas-Wrestling Championship in Santiago, Chile. Regarding this, organizer Manuel Angulo wrote: "Cancellation this year is the best option. Everything is complicated here. They only provide me with physical space; everything else is personal. I prefer to wait and see what happens next time. The idea is to hold a quality event. Since there is no support from municipal authorities, it is difficult to hold a Pan-American event." So it seems we have no choice.

It is very unfortunate that the planned events in South America did not take place. Recently, there was some information that in August, an international event will be held in the hometown of our friend, Vice-president Vilmar Oliveira — the city of Caxias do Sul, wh ere mask wrestling could have been included. However, no official letter with the proposal was received by the IMWF.

Mr. Odd Haugen confirmed the holding of the Olympia Mas-Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas, USA, from October 10-13 as scheduled.

Regarding the Asian championships, there is currently minimal information about the location and approximate dates — Almalyk, Uzbekistan, October 12-17.

From November 6-10, the European Open Mas-Wrestling Championships for adults will be hosted by Slovakia. The Slovak Ministry of Sports and Tourism is taking them under its wing. The regulations are in progress. The Slovak side proposed introducing a new weight category — up to 90 kg — into the program of the European absolute championship. In our view, this proposal is reasonable. Moreover, this option was already tested at the previous European championship and was well received.

There are no other changes in our Calendar. So, dear friends, let's continue working. Relaxation is only a dream for us.
