Information for participants of the Calgary Stampede International Mas-Wrestling Tournament

Calgary, Canada. July 11-16, 2024

Events program 

July 11 (Thursday) – arrival day.

July 12 (Friday)

10.00 – 14.00 – registration and weigh-in of participants.

Location: The Strength Edge, 4828 Pacific Rd NE, T2E 5S5, Calgary, Alberta.

July 13 (Saturday) – competition day.

Venue: see above.

Start – 10.00

- opening ceremony, participants parade

- qualifying bouts;

- preliminary and semi-final bouts

- final bouts and awarding.

19:00 – Dinner

July 14 (Sunday) – Culture day.

Calgary Stampede.

July 15 июля (Monday) 

Trip to the Mountains. Farm visit. Serge establishing. Friendly sports meetings.

July 16 – departure day.

Arrival in Canada 

The hosting country will try to arrange for everyone the meet at the airport according to your application with the list of visa holders, dates and times of arrival. 

Transport - In case someone is late or unable to inform on arrival.

Taxi from the airport to the accommodation place (College) costs $40 CAD.

If someone is interested in car rental, a link and info provided additionally. 

How to get to the place of Registration and weighing participants

Taxi from college to the competition venue - Sports hall GYM 4828 Pacific road NE) = $20 CAD and to the downtown (City Hall) =$15 CAD. Cash payment is available.

Subway Jubillee station is in 10 minutes walking from dormitory, and 10-15 minutes by subway to the competition venue. It costs $3.70 CAD per trip, $11.60 CAD – unlimitied use during a day. Directions to the subway, routes to competition venue and subway prices in the application.

There are taxi services – Uber, Indriver which are cheaper than other, but for payment it is needed to install app and add a card accepted in Canada. 

Accommodation and Price - in SAIT College Dormitory which located: 151 dr. Carpenter circle.

Per night = $185 CAD + 9% tax, 1 apartment for 2 persons (2 Bedroom Suites), shared kitchen. 

While, it is required to prepay 10% a month before check-in and 50% two weeks before arrival. 

Meals - nearby you will find café Starbucks, Tim Hortons, restaurant Earls and others, map is attached. Grocery store Safeway relatively not far as well.

July 13 Competition day

Due to renovations at the Olympic plaza, the venue was moved, it is also 8 Avenue, but closer to 2 street SW. There is given area on 8 Av, next to Scotia Bank enough for the arena 20'x20'. There is a lot of underground parking (access via 9 Avenue or the Telus Convention Centre). Subway is more convenient.

The competition will be held not in the Stampede Park itself, but on a very popular, crowded, walking street. On the days of Stampede Festival on this street will be a lots of traffic jams and a big audience.

After the competition, all participants will be invited to Strongman Gym for event celebrating. 

July 14 – Culture program.

Calgary Stampede Festival.

Evening Rodeo and Final Show with seats costs from $100 CAD, tickets without seats are much cheaper. Close to midnight the Final Fireworks by program.

Daytime Rodeo – ticket is $57 CAD, cheaper without seats.

Tickets to the Rodeo include entrance to the Park. You can just walk into the park, watch pavilions, shows, attractions, etc. Ticket is $25 CAD (up to 64 years). 

July 15 - Excursions

Trip to the Mountains!

Farm visit, in 1,5 hours from Calgary. Serge establishing. Blessing ceremony of Algys and Osuokhai. Friendly sports meetings (stone movement and other activities). 

Currency – Canadian dollars. 

Attention!

Dear friends, let us together make our meeting in Canada special, to remember it for years to come!

Athletes of different countries can prepare a cultural perfomances (song, dance, playing a musical instrument). National dresses are welcomed. There will be encouraging prizes!
