Mas-wrestling in the program of the Yaylag Festival in Azerbaijan
During the two days, demonstration performances and master classes were organized for the festival guests by the winners of the World and European Championships. The audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of mas-wrestling, learn the rules, and try to master the technical techniques of conducting bouts.
On August 17, the final day of the festival, the Azerbaijan Mas-wrestling Championship was held, in which about 100 athletes from 15 regions of the country took part.
The members of the IMWF Presidium Nawab Furqan Khan (Pakistan) and Samir Abdullayev (Azerbaijan) were present at the championship.
Champions of the country were: Kyazym Ismaily - 60 kg, Ulvi Rzayev - 70 kg, Huseyn Mammadov - 80 kg, Sultan Agayev - 90 kg, Khayam Orudjov - 105 kg, Jahangir Yagubov - 105+ kg.
Among the honored guests of the festival were the President of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdogan, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Farid Gaibov, the heads of executive power of the Goygol region and the city of Ganja, as well as famous athletes - Olympic medalists, world and European champions.
The Chief Referee of the competition is Ariz Aliyev, the Chief Secretary is Arif Shahlarov.
The organizers emphasized that the inclusion of mas-wrestling in the program of the Yaylag Festival contributes to the popularization of national and ethnosports traditions, uniting young people and strengthening the country's cultural heritage.
