International mas-wrestling teams clash again on Russky Island
The International Mas-wrestling Federation has been holding tournaments with the participation of foreign athletes in the Eastern Economic Forum's sports program since 2017, with the personal support of the Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev. This year, it was decided to hold an international youth tournament dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the IMWF general partner – the Joint Stock Company Yakutia Railways. In order to draw attention to the activities of this major transport company in the Far East, the competition format was determined to be a team event. At the same time, the names of the teams reflected the railway stations along the route of trains on the Amur-Yakutsk Mainline: Neryungri, Aldan, Tommot, Nizhny Bestyakh.
Today, 16 athletes from 14 countries took part in the prestigious tournament: Angola, Egypt, Zambia, India, Kazakhstan, Congo, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Mongolia, Nigeria, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Four international teams competed for the right to become the best, and there were no losers among them, as the first, second and two third places were played out. What place the team would ultimately take depended on the cohesion of its members, the ability to support and motivate each other. The teams were formed the day before by drawing lots and their compositions were as follows:
NERYUNGRI Team

At the opening ceremony of the tournament, inspired by the parting speech of the General Director of JSC "Yakutia Railways" Vasily Shimokhin, the teams declared their claims to leadership positions. The captains announced their mottos. Zacarias Chioca loudly proclaimed: "Team Tommot! Next stop - Victory!" He was echoed by Shamet Tamerlan: "No one but us! Aldan! Aldan! Aldan!" Samuel Alade Adeola gave a philosophical mood: "The road is difficult, strive forward!"
Only Semyon Anufriev modestly greeted: To all participants, referees and guests - Urui - Aikhal! This modesty was fully justified. Under his leadership, the cohesive team Nizhny Bestyakh won first place! Is it any wonder, because the captain has years of training behind him, the highest title of world champion, the title of Master of Sports of Russia of international class. Semyon showed a high class here, on the seaside land, on Russky Island! He gave his new friends sound advice and the result is obvious!
The second place was won by the team "Tommot". Behind them is "Aldan" and with a slight lag "Neryungri". Well, athletes from different continents, working in teams, once again proved how Yakut mas-wrestling can unite everyone around goodness, peace and mutual understanding! The International Mas-wrestling Federation can celebrate another worthy successfully held event, continuing to fulfill its peacekeeping mission in the global world!
We sincerely thank the management of Yakutia Railways for their full support in all our organization's endeavors! We are on the same path with you! The next stop is the Olympics!
