President of the All-Russian Mas-wrestling Federation on the preparations for the World Championship in Kazan

The President of the All-Russian Mas-wrestling Federation, Mikhail Gulyaev, announced the upcoming VIII Mas-wrestling World Championship during a recent meeting of the IMWF Presidium.

Mikhail Gulyaev reported:

"On February 7, 2026, an official letter was received from the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, confirming his readiness to host this important international sports event. The letter guarantees that the Championship will be held at a high organizational level in compliance with all necessary requirements, as well as co-financing.

The event is set to take place from November 26 to 30, 2026, at the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace in Kazan, Tatarstan at the address: 1G, F. Amirkhan Street.

Organizational management of the preparation and holding of the Championship is carried out by the International Mas-wrestling Federation, the All-Russian Mas-wrestling Federation, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Governments of the Republic of Sakha and Tatarstan, as well as the ANO World Mas-wrestling Center. The competition is directly entrusted to the Organizing Committee and the Main Judging Panel approved by the International Federation.

In addition to the competitions, the event will feature an international scientific and practical conference aimed at fostering the exchange of experience among sports and scientific communities from 30 countries.

Currently, work is underway on developing the championship brand book, regulations, and technical rider, with plans to include the event in the Ministry of Sports' list of significant events.

An estimated 55 countries will participate, with around 374 athletes, coaches, referees, and officials expected to arrive.

The receiving party undertakes the meeting and transfer from the international airports and railway stations of Kazan and Moscow to the venue and back. Financing of these expenses is planned from the federal budget of the Ministry of Sports of Russia. Accommodation is planned on the basis of the Volga State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The event will feature competitions across various categories for men and women aged 18 and above, including weight divisions and an absolute championship.

Financing is carried out on the terms of equity participation on the part of the federal budget, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the All-Russian and International Mas-wrestling Federations.

A cultural program will also highlight national traditions, including the installation of a Yakut Serge, to enhance the festive atmosphere and celebrate the sport's cultural heritage.
