Invincible defeated: Martins Licis became an absolute world champion in mas-wrestling having prevailed over Viktor Kolybabchuk

There was a sensational victory gained by American athlete over invincible Viktor Kolibabchuk in the Absolute mas-wrestling championship finals.

At the competitions that were hold in the city of Columbus, Ohio (USA) it was expected that the leader of Russian national team Viktor Kolibabchuk would face an american Martins Licis in the finals of the championship.

Viktor Kolibabchuk who never lost in the last 5 years, had resisted only few seconds of the first round. Licis looked much stronger since the last competitions at the World Cup in Moscow. The second round came to the end even faster. Viktor couldn’t have stand powerful and sudden attack of the younger opponent.

MAS Wrestling is a sport that's originated in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in Russia. It's been told that the sport was a modification of something the Vikings used to determine their strongest rowers, thousands of years ago. The people of Yakutsk are a phenomenon to watch, as their precision and technique are unmatched. They often demolish stronger opponents like me, and I've always had to be very vigilant when facing anybody fr om Russia or Yakutia. Every victory against these incredible athletes feels like accomplishing the impossible. My mother, Anita Licis Ribak spent her teenage years in the Sakha Republic, and my heart goes out to them. I will do whatever it takes to help grow the sport and make it seen by the World. Also, I cannot wait to compete against Viktor Kolibabchuk when he's closer to home. I remember how jet lag felt when I visited Russia, and it was rough. It was Viktor's first time visiting us, so I'm sure that he was not at his best. Regardless, now that I understand the sport, he is the toughest opponent I have faced, there were a couple moments where I almost went over the board” wrote at his facebook page Martin Licis after the competitions.

Viktor Dokalov from Repuplic of Sakha and Jacob Finerty from USA won bronze medals. Sakha wrestler have defeated Sergey Trubitsyn from Uzbekistan in the bronze final. And american athlete have defeated another yakutian wrestler Fedor Fedorov – World Cup 2015 winner.

It is worth noting, that competition was one of the disciplines in the famous «Arnold Classic Festival» that have been organized by ex-governor of California, actor and body-building legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also there is a photo that became really popular on the internet, wh ere Arnold is taking a selfie with competing mas-wrestlers on the background.
