Juha-Vesa Jantti, Finland: I promise the project will be unique!

12.08.2020
The Presidium of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation has set the priority directions for the development of Mas-Wrestling. Attention will be drawn to those countries whose potential has not yet been fully realized.

First of all, these are the Arctic Council countries: Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden.

The topic of the Arctic is now especially relevant. In some countries fr om this list, such as the USA, Canada, Finland and Russia itself, thanks to the efforts of our colleagues, active work is already underway.

For information: The US Mas-Wrestling Federation is taking steps to develop the northern territories - posted an article about Mas-Wrestling with colorful photographs in the Alaska Airlines flight magazine for March.

The global goal of work in this direction should be the inclusion of Mas-Wrestling in the sports program of the Arctic Winter Games.

Note: The Arctic Winter Games are international sports competitions held among the countries of the circumpolar region, which are designed to preserve the traditional sports of the indigenous peoples of the North and are aimed at developing sports in the regions of the participating countries.

They are held every four years and have a great resonance. This year they were supposed to take place in Canada, but for obvious reasons they were cancelled. Some non-winter sports can also be represented. Competitions for these sports are held indoors.

What should we do next year in this direction?

1. Conduct planned activities at a high level:

- Viking Mas-Wrestling Challenge International Tournament in Fefor, Norway;

- Presentation tournament in Greenland, Denmark.

2. Conduct practical training seminars for athletes, referees and coaches on competition days.

3. Record everything on film. Make professional films.

4. An important point will be the creation of a permanent Sports base in Finland for holding training camps for national teams from different countries etcetera.

The member of the IMWF Presidium Juha-Vesa Jantti made a proposal that could be supported at the state level in Finland.

“Our company Jana-pro sports together with the Finnish Mas-wretling Association will develop sports training opportunities in Pyhtää Finland, said Mr. Jantti. The project can receive state support, while its own funding will be 30%, and the state takes on 70%.

The area of the sports base is 9000 m2, there is a large old school building of 650 m2, which has already been renovated for a mas-wrestling hall, as well as sleeping areas for eight people and a kitchen. The building also contains old teachers' apartments that are renovated for full accommodation use.

So currently we can accommodate a total of about 20 people. In the future, we may renovate another 70 m2 classroom for theoretical teaching. In addition, outside will be built a sauna with wood and electric heating and shower rooms.

I want to build a place wh ere you can practice Mas-Wrestling at the highest possible level. A bonus will be an outdoor training in the beautiful Finnish nature.

The project will be ready during 2021, as soon as the project progresses, I will keep you informed with pictures and drawings.

I promise the project will be unique!” - Juha-Vesa concluded his speech.

The meeting participants supported the idea of developing Mas-Wrestling in the Arctic countries in general and in particular the project with the participation of the state in Finland.

The IMWF President Alexander Akimov said that next year Russia will take precedence in the Arctic Council. He as a Chairman of the Arctic and Antarctic Council at the Federation Council, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs announced his personal supervision of this direction and gave instructions to create a separate committee to fulfill the assigned tasks.
